3 Days Gorilla Trek to Bwindi forest – Trekking mountain gorillas in Bwindi, offers tourists an opportunity to view and enjoy any of the 12 habituated gorilla family groups within the forest. This tour can either kick off from Kampala, Uganda or Kigali; Rwanda to Bwindi (this is yet a shorter route) to the Impenetrable forest.
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
Have breakfast and get ready for your transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park. If in Rwanda, you will set off for the Rwanda – Ugandan border via Cyanika. Driving South West from Kampala, enjoy the beautiful scenic views of the country side; En route, check out the Equator and Igongo Cultural Village and later have lunch in Mbarara town as you view the long horned cattle statue. Proceed with your drive to Bwndi, upon arrival check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight at Ruhija Lodge (Luxury), Bakiga Lodge / gorilla Mist camp (Midrange / Budget)
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Visit to the Batwa Pygmies
Upon rising, enjoy your breakfast and head to Bwindi park headquarters for briefing on mountain gorilla trekking within Bwindi forest. Here you will be provided with highlights on the trekking rules and guidelines and what to expect on your expedition. Set off for your search, this may last between 1 hour to several hours depending on the day’s movement of the apes since they are always on the move searching for food, water and even shelter. In this wilderness, watch out for other interesting wildlife and bird species. On locating them, keep at 7 meters away, avoid direct eye contact, keep silent and get your camera ready for your interaction. You see them playing, eating, teasing each other, sleeping and nurturing their young ones peacefully in your presence.
After this amazing encounter, retrieve to the starting point, meet your guide and return to your lodge. In the afternoon, go for the Batwa cultural visit. They are the early human dwellers of the Bwindi forest whose lifestyle depended on the forest but were sent out by the conservation program. Learn about their culture, hunting skills, traditional dance and drama, songs and poetry among others. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure
After breakfast, get ready for your transfer to Kampala and en route, have lunch in Mbarara, reaching Kampala in the evening for drop off at either Entebbe International Airport for departure flight of at a hotel in Kampala.
