Day 1: Pick up – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early, enjoy your morning coffee and set off for Musanze province – the base for Volcanoes national park. When in Musanze town, engage in an evening walk to neighboring towns, communities and volcanoes Later retire at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (luxury,) Volcanoes Lodge (Super Luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / La Palme (Mid-range), Muhabura Hotel (Basic) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Iby’wacu Cultural Visit
After morning breakfast, assemble at Kinigi park offices by 7:00 am. Here you’ll be briefed on mountain gorilla trekking rules, guidelines and the code of conduct when within the apes’ vicinity. You should always keep calm, silent and still when with these creatures, always keep away from the gorillas at 7 meters feet even in cases where the baby gorillas may try approaching you, to avoid distracting them and for safety measures. The dominant silverback is the leader of the group and always looking out for its family members. On meeting the gorillas, enjoy an hour observing them and taking photographs. At the end of this remarkable encounter, retrieve to the starting point; meet your guide for your return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, set out for a visit to the Iby’wacu cultural center.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking and Visit to twin Lakes; Burera and Ruhondo
In the morning after your breakfast, retrieve to the Kinigi park offices where you will be briefed on the golden monkey tracking guidelines. Once done, start off with your hunting adventure hiking through the dense vegetation in search for these amazingly shy monkeys. Unlike mountain gorillas, golden monkeys are not habituated towards receiving visitors which explains their shyness. During your hike, expect to see other wildlife such as buffalos, elephants etc. On locating the golden monkeys, enjoy watching them play, creep, and jump from one tree to another Retrieve to your lodge. In the afternoon, get ready for an evening walk to lakes Burera and Ruhondo. Dine and rest at your lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Have breakfast and set off for Lake Kivu; Rwanda’s largest fresh water lake. En route, visit the Murambi genocide site, King’s palace in Nyanza. Arriving at the Lake shores in the evening, check in at your hotel and relax by the lake side. Day 5: Hike to Nyiragongo Mountain
Upon waking up; have breakfast and hit the road to Congo crossing over via the Kibatsi village and start off with the Nyiragongo hike. This usually goes for a day getting to the top of the Crater Lake but once at the top; take in the beautiful scenic views and the active lava lake. Dinner and overnight at Mount Nyiragongo cottages.
Day 6: Return trip to Kigali
At the crater peak, have breakfast and slope down the Nyiragongo. Once at the base, report at the offices for registration and later hit the road for your return trip to Kigali. You can engage in an optional Kigali city tour. Dinner and overnight in Kigali.
Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Upon rising, have breakfast and set off for Lake Bunyonyi- the 2nd deepest lake in Africa. En route, watch out for the beautiful scenic view of the country side. At the Lake Bunyonyi Island- another birders’ paradise, you will engage in bird watching, fishing, canoe riding to Bushara Island and other islands, visiting caves etc. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Overland camp – Budget, Bunyonyi

Day 8: Early Morning Boat Cruise and Transfer to Bwindi
At the Bushara Island, enjoy your breakfast and engage in an exclusive canoe ride and later get ready for your transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park. Upon arrival, take an evening stride to the nearby community or even pay a visit to the Batwa pygmies. Dinner and overnight at Bakiga community Lodge.
Day 9: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to QENP
This is yet another interesting day of tracking mountain gorillas but from a different point of view. In the morning, have a cup of coffee and report to the park headquarters for a briefing on mountain gorilla trekking within Bwindi forest. Here you will be provided with highlights on the trekking rules and guidelines and what to expect on your expedition. Set off for your search, this may last between 1 hour to several hours depending on the day’s movement of the apes since they are always on the move searching for food, water and even shelter. In this wilderness, watch out for other interesting wildlife and bird species.
On locating them, keep at 7 meters away, avoid direct eye contact, keep silent and get your camera ready for your interaction. You see them playing, eating, teasing each other, sleeping and nurturing their young ones peacefully in your presence. After this amazing encounter, retrieve to the starting point, meet your guide and return to your lodge. Have lunch and set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha sector and watch out for the unique tree climbing lions. Once ta the park, head for an evening boat cruise. Inner and overnight at Kyambura game Lodge/ Enganzi lodge.
Day 10: Morning Game Drive and Kalinzu Chimps Tracking
Rise very early in the morning around 5:00 am for an early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers through the Kasenyi trail. Among the wildlife to expect; the Big Five – hippopotami, lions, hyenas, elephants, buffalos as they all return to their dens from their night’s hunt. Return to your lodge and after lunch; get ready for your chimps tracking through the Kalinzu forest reserve. Once you meet them, enjoy an hours’ stay with these creatures. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari lodge – luxury, Enganzi lodge – deluxe.
Day 11: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Have breakfast and proceed with an early morning chimps hunt through the Paniyo Pabidi Forest Reserve and once done, you will proceed with a trip to Kibale Tropical Rainforest National park – East Africa’s Largest home for chimpanzees. You will reach Kibale in the evening and head out for a guided forest nature walk / visit the communities around the forest and Bigodi Wet Land. During your guided forest walk, you may see Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Red Tailed monkey and Red Colobus. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 12: Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking
Have morning breakfast and assemble at Kanyachu Kibale park headquarters for a briefing on your chimps tracking activity. Embark on your primates’ hunt where you will see chimpanzees, Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, and Black And White Colobus Monkey and many others. Dine and rest at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest(Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).
Day 13: Return to Kampala and Departure
Have breakfast at leisure and get ready for your return trip to Kampala. En route, through Fortportal, you will visit the Tooro Kingdom palace and other interesting communities. Arriving in the evening for a drop of at either the hotel / airport for departure.
